Did You Know Teens Can Cut?
It's time to end the "children can't cut" myth
So teens can cut.
YES IM SERIOUS.
“Why does everyone say they can’t?”
“Isn’t it bad for them to do that?”
“Lifting weights is bad if you’re a teen.”
It’s literally on par with the lifting weights is bad meme.
Cutting isn’t always a good idea, just like lifting weights isn’t always a good idea.
Teens can cut if
They’re overweight
They’re fat
They’re skinny fat
Why would they do this if they fit that criteria?
Well they’ll build muscle easier. They’ll have a healthier body. They’ll have a better mental image.
The problems with cutting are pretty much the same you’d have outside of cutting.
Teenagers are a lot more likely to go super extreme with their deficit, starving themselves, barely eating.
This is obviously not good…
Another problem, which is a problem without a cut, is teenagers who are barely getting enough nutrients in anyway, now get less.
They’re not eating their fruit and veg
They might not be prioritising anything other than protein
Maybe they’re following carnivore bros and skipping out on carbs/essential fats
They end up below 10% bodyfat.
But these problems don’t have to happen.
So if someone is a teen and they’re overweight, fat, and not lean, here’s what they need to do to improve their health.
Start a controlled small deficit where they’re tracking what they eat.
Make sure to fill in the gaps of any Macro/Micros you’re missing out on based on bodybuilding dietary guidelines.
Start a training program to build muscle by following this workout skeleton
You’ll end up healthier than before as you’ve added those two habits…
For anyone out there wondering about EATING DISORDERS and thinking that controlling and measuring what someone eats will start to cause one.
That’s not how they work.
Eating disorders are way more complicated than “if someone takes notice on what they eat they’ll develop one”.
These have a lot of confounding variables causing them.
That being said, don’t feel like you need to stick to this stuff 100% of the time. Never be afraid of having fun and eating what you enjoy, just don’t overindulge.
If this is something you’re trying to do, email me [email protected] with your plan, and also check out the dietary guidelines I’ve put together.

P.S. All of the random stuff people make up about not developing properly, being shorter, being stupider, slower, etc. are not actually real. They might be part of someone who eats 5 calories a day, or skips all nutrients, but that’s not what a controlled sustainable deficit is.
