The Best App Stack

here's what I'd install on my phone

In the past bodybuilders had the cards stacked against them.

So much of what you take for granted today just wasn’t available.

They’d have to bring pen and paper to log their workouts. They’d need to use a notebook to track and add up all calories and macros. They’d have to listen to gym music when doing cardio.

I couldn’t imagine how annoying doing all that would actually be.

Even simpler things I take for granted like the calculator app are used all the time.

So here’s what I think is the best app stack.

Most of these are going to be useful for everyone, some might only be useful for a few.

The Most Important App

The best app someone can install is the Poole Fitness app.

All jokes aside I do have an app version you can install that’ll keep you notified and will make it a bit easier to find older articles.

  1. Open my website on your phone poolefitness.com

  2. Save the website as a bookmark on your homescreen

  3. When you open it up through here you’ll have downloaded my app.

If you’re in one of my coaching groups make sure you login and you’ll be able to access the coaching dashboard through there too.

I do genuinely think it’s important to have an app like this installed, being able to get notifications for my posts mean something that matters to you doesn’t get lost in your inbox.

Strong

I’ve used Strong for years.

It’s a great way to track your workouts, look back at what you did last week, and plan your next session.

I’ve got a few tips you can follow here that should make the app a bit more effective for you.

Cronometer

Logging your meals is probably something 95% of people should be doing.

There are a few apps you can use for this but by far Cronometer takes the top spot.

It makes it easy to view what you’re consuming, know how much you should roughly be having, and it lets you scan barcodes.

The paid features in this are ones that I wouldn’t even personally buy as although they may be useful for some, they’re not important things that are locked behind a paywall.

Great app. 10/10.

Sleepcycle

Bit of a decent app if you’re trying to transform your sleep.

It’s one of those apps you wont use for long, but you’ll use to help build a routine, and learn what sort of habits work best for you.

When you’ve used this data to learn about what works, stop using the app, and continue getting great sleep.

I like to view this app as a means to an end, when you know what’s working there’s not much extra you can do, and it’s not worth one bad nights’ sleep negatively effecting your mental.

Netflix/YouTube

If you don’t have either of these apps I’d be shocked.

If you have either of these apps and you’re not using it for cardio I’m not surprised, but I’d be thankful I’m the one letting you know about it.

Renpho/Bluetooth Scale App

If you have an electric scale that has an app, you’re genuinely missing out if you’re not setting it up.

I’m able to have all my weights instantly saved in my apple health without lifting a finger.

This makes it pretty easy to see how my progress has been without logging everything in a notes app or something.

Give it a try.

Medito

This is the last app on the list.

If you’re pretty stressed or find yourself not really having a moment without any noise/stimulation/silence try it out.

Little bit of meditation never hurt anyone.

I’ll open up most of these apps almost every single day, I’m sure you’ll end up doing something pretty similar.

Are there any apps you think are things I’d want to use too? Let me know.

No, I’m not counting the calculator 🙄
