Your Big Fitness Goal
For 2025 (this is a new years post if you couldn’t tell)

I’ve spoken a lot about making goals, piggybacking sub goals off of other goals etc.
It all comes down to picking goals that aren’t just a destination.
There’s something emotional/psychological pulling you to that.
For general goals and adaption and all that read this.
You’re getting one thing from this post, one big goal that will keep you driven this year.
I can yap a lot sometimes so I’ll keep this simple and short.
Write down ten specific goals you have within fitness you’d like to achieve by the end of next year. The first 3-4 will suck, past then you get to the good stuff.
Make sure you’re thinking about your big overarching goal, not the essence but the full writeup we made together. If they don’t match, somethings gone wrong somewhere (either make a new overarching goal, or realise your 10 goals aren’t actually important to you)
Make these numerically specific. “Bench more” and “Bench a lot” suck.
Make them difficult to achieve, it should feel like a coin flip.
Now that you’ve got 10 great goals, eliminate one at a time till you’re left with the goal that feels the most important to you.
Work out what you have to do this week/month/quarter in order to guarantee you’re on track, and keep at it
Obviously write this in big bold ink and throw it on your wall.
Make it something you’ll see every single day.
If you’d like you can use this structure for other areas of life, or for other goals you might have. Just makes sure you’ve got a proper overarching goal in that area, don’t be brainless.
Your Hypertrophy Hero,
Fletcher
P.S. I didn’t achieve my goal from 2024 so I’m going to modify it, and keep going until it’s achieved. This might be overkill but I think throwing away an old goal (unless it doesn’t make sense for us anymore) isn’t the right move.
