Do you use the Fletcher Loop?

Completely stolen and rebranded loop...

I’ve always had a different approach to reaching a goal.

I’m not sure if it’s a consequence of my ADHD superpower but I’m a big planner. Anything I do ends up having a huge plan attached. Often times an unnecessary level of planning…

Preparation is a pain.

Execution is a blessing.

My plans are dynamic. This isn’t an unchangeable infallible perfect path to the golden gates. It’s my GPS’ best guess.

The second I get driving anything could happen.

  • Roadblocks

  • Low petrol

  • Cyclist dressed head to toe in bright yellow lycra with a death wish getting a little too close to my car

All of these mean the GPS updates.

The same goes for my plans.

A few months back I found something called the OODA Loop.

It was an exact depiction of what my perfectly crafted Fletcher Loop had been doing for years. This is why I’m allowed to rebrand it 🙄

Observe Orient Decision Act

Honestly a pretty satanic looking diagram

This is what my brain’s been doing for years.

Most people handle plans a little bit different.

They don’t have an actual loop.

Without having a feedback loop in a plan, or even testing, you’re setup to fail.

Some guys don’t even orient. How many people have you seen eat some arbitrary number to bulk/cut that isn’t personalised?

An OODA Fletcher Loop is important to reaching your goals.

Imagine you’re cutting and never change your calories or food…

  • You stop losing weight because you burn less calories in a day

  • You start eating more food because your diet isn’t satiating enough

  • You mess up your carb timing and have really low energy workouts and lose muscle

All of those problems are fixable the second you have a feedback loop.

Half of my time I get questions like those…

Questions someone would already know the answer to if they stopped and thought. The question literally contains the answer. You need to be reflecting on your progress.

Consider a static plan a plan to fail.

Go take a look at your current program, diet, plan, ask yourself some questions and change it.

Your Hypertrophy Hero,
Fletcher

P.S. Some of you might have noticed this feedback loop was a big part of my post about gym goals. https://www.poolefitness.com/p/here-is-how-to-find-a-good-gym-goal If you’d like to read more into the factors that need to be observed, that’s a great place to go.
