i feel my muscle!

you've definitely heard this is the most important thing

I was talking to someone recently about how definitions change based on who you speak to.

Most people view mind muscle connection as being able to feel a muscle.

In reality it’s how well your mind can recruit the muscle.

This being the case “feeling” ends up being almost an amplifier.

You’ve no doubt heard countless bodybuilders talk about feeling. “You need to feel the muscle” It’s the most important thing!!!

Well, no…

The most important thing is that you’re training close to failure and using the muscle to do so.

Insane stretches, and super hard squeezes will make you feel a muscle a ton, but that doesn’t mean you’re getting a super high mind muscle connection, or even training it well.

That’s why I like to view feeling the muscle as something that tells us about an exercise itself.

You almost have to pretend no ever exercises exist when doing this.

When you perform a good exercise, pay attention to if you feel your muscles more or less than last time.

If you feel them more a few things might be happening

  1. You might be tapping into more muscle fibres

  2. You might be performing the exercise better

  3. You might just be able to be more attune into your body

None of those are bad.

Just never let chasing a feeling, or sense of a muscle, come in the way of actually pushing yourself, adding weight to the bar, and making some great gains.

If anyone ever says to you “if you don’t feel the muscle with higher weight do lower weight” that’s dumb.
