i tweaked my back 😬

Don't do deadlifts, they're not safe.

I did the most dangerous exercise and my back was not happy about it.

I load 100kg onto the bar. Throw it onto my back. I good morning it.

5 Reps.

That’s all it takes for me to wake up the next day with extreme back pain.

Well…

  • 90% of my bed slats are broken

  • My bed has a >3 inch mattress sag

It’s starting to look like good mornings aren’t the culprit.

I can’t think of an exercise where if you have proper form and are patient it’ll actually be an injury risk.

That’s some lie a fitness YouTuber made up.

The things that are actually going to blow your back out in life are the stupid things.

  • The broken mattresses of the world

  • Bending over to pick something up

  • Getting jump kicked by a toddler

Those are what cause back pain.

Thankfully there is one type of exercise that builds a defence against it.

Good mornings. Any hinge will do.

Get strong at things that challenge your spine, and your spine stays safe.

If you don’t have any hinges in your program currently, ask yourself why.

Not only will these protect your health, but it looks awesome having two huge pythons going up your spine.

P.S. If you’re doing a hinge where the weight is held in your hands and you don’t already have some lifting straps, it’s time to go buy some.
