a cautionary tale...
my go to meal has been holding me back

This one’s on me…
It’s not a huge mistake but, okay it’s a huge mistake.
I don’t know if I’m to blame.
Okay I’m kinda to blame.
See I have a favourite chicken brand. It’s affordable and tastes good. It’s portioned into really easy slices.
There’s one thing I never noticed though.
See I’ve just been weighing the chicken and logging it as chicken.
Today I was putting together a shopping list and I took a gander at the description of the chicken I buy 😳

what.
Are you kidding?
“Added Water”
What’s that supposed to mean…
So anyway 😬
I went to take a look at the difference per 100g cooked in normal chicken and the chicken I buy…
Normal 31g per 100g.
Mine 21g per 100g.
TWENTY ONE GRAMS?
THAT’S PRACTICALLY A THIRD MISSING.
As my main protein source this means my 150g is effectively 100g.
So…
Yeah.
That’s not ideal 😭
Let this be a lesson to track properly.
The problem here isn’t the chicken I buy, it’s the fact that I hadn’t logged it properly.
As important as protein is, having this be the sole way I get it makes it pretty insane.
It’s not like I haven’t been growing. I’ve been growing pretty well. I just probably would have grown a bit more.
At least I notice now and can change things going forward :)
Anyway, let’s finish this off with a bit of a nice story, I think you’ve learnt from my lesson…
My birthday dinner was absolutely delish and really really nice.
I don’t have any photos of the birthday cake I had, but I can get that for you later.
For now take a look at the dinner I ended up eating!
It didn’t have everything I mentioned yesterday, but that’s alright.

here’s the tofu looking absolutely delicious

and here’s a better view seeing everything else
So I didn’t take photos of this, it would look way worse if I had.
But it was a great great meal.
